Hi there, my name is Mollie and I'm a counsellor.
First of all I'd like to thank you for taking the time to come here and read this. Sometimes life get's really hard and it can be a struggle for us to see a way to work through it. The aim of counselling is to give you a space where you feel completely safe to be yourself, talk about what is affecting you and to work together to help you feel more supported, calm and happier.
I am trained as an Integrative counsellor which means I work with a range of counselling theories to help you feel listened to and understood while providing a safe, welcoming space to explore your feelings and thoughts. Some of the theories I'm trained to use are Person Centred, Gestalt, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Creative therapies and Mindfulness.
I have a small, comfy room within the Youth Intervention Centre where most of our work can take place, however I am aware that sometimes sitting face to face with someone and talking about yourself can feel intimidating or scary. This is why I am also able to bring in a range of skills and activities during our sessions if this feels appropriate. This can provide you with a unique space where you feel comfortable and able to share some of your troubles. Some of the activities we may use in our sessions, alongside talking therapies, are; art, sensory activities, worksheets, play, nature and other creative therapies.
I believe the relationship between client and counsellor is one of the most important parts of counselling. My main aim in our sessions is to allow you to feel safe and comfortable so that when you feel it's right you can start to talk about some of the things that are troubling you.
My whole approach is based around you and what you want from counselling; whether that is an ear to listen, coping strategies to take away or a place where you can completely be yourself and begin explore some of the things that are causing you distress.
I also hold a membership with the National Counselling Society (NCS) and abide by their strict guidelines and rules to help keep you, and myself, safe and protected at all times during our work together.
