Lego can be a fabulous tool in aiding communication and creative work within your therapy setting. During the training session you'll learn what Lego-based therapy is all about and how you and your clients can adopt the builder, engineer and supplier roles to facilitate inspiring communication building activities.

We will also learn ways to take Lego further to aid your therapeutic practice. We will use mini-figures to work on identity and emotions, use free build pieces to create safe places and more!

CREATIVE IDENTITY WORK

Wednesday 20th July

In this training session we will look at creative ways we can work with our clients and young people to better understand and support awareness of their identity and understanding of themselves. We will also spend some time considering the benefits of using creativity and art in the counselling space.

This hands-on, creativity-led session will give you the opportunity to share your own techniques while also coming away with new experiences to practice with your clients. We will be making use of collage, mixed media, pencils, pens, paint and other craft materials we have to hand.

During the course we will also look at the activity 'an island of me' and learn how to facilitate this with your own clients.

Timings: 10am - 2pm (There will also be a 30 min lunch break)

Cost: £65

SENSORY AWARENESS AND MINDFULNESS

Wednesday 14th September

This training session will inform and prepare you to understand, be more aware of and create activities around the sensory systems. Sensory awareness is something that is integral to every human. During the course we will look at the eight sensory systems and how we can be sensory seeking of certain stimuli or avoiding of others.

We will discuss how this can impact on our clients, and our own, ability to be in the moment and fully connect with the counselling process. As an outcome we will look at the considerations needed and alternative methods that can help bring a sense of mindfulness and relaxation to your sessions that are accessible for all.

This is a really fun, hands-on session with lots of sensory experiences for you to take away and enjoy both for yourself and your clients.

Timings: 10am - 2pm (There will also be a 30 min lunch break)

Cost: £65
